Thank you so much for your help. I was waiting to answer your replies until my daughter's dance teacher returns from vacation. I intend to give her all the responses (thanks to you) and then let her decide the best way to go for the butterfly wings.

If I can find a shop the belly dancing fabric sounds like it might be the best fabric as it is colorful and will flow with the movement of the dance. At one time, belly dancing was taught at several schools in this area but after looking in the phone book, I cannot find that type of dancing at all.

My sister-in-law is Labanese so I am hoping that in some way she may be able to help or maybe she knows someone that can recommend a shop where I can buy the fabric. I'll keep in touch as the wings begin to become a reality.
