Advice for New Costumers

My advice to beginners in addition to:

• Love it.
• Do it for fun.
• Learn everything you can.
• Don't be afraid to screw up.

I would add that 99% of problems can be avoided if you:

• Make a mock-up first (garments).
• Make a sample first (trims/embellishments).
• Make a test run (any new materials/techniques).
• Don't wait till the last minute to try it on for the first time!
• Wear comfortable shoes.

And remember, to paraphrase Oscar Wilde:

"Costuming is too important to be taken seriously!"
