Somewhere back in the days of yore, I posted some comparisons of female measurements through the years. The University of Newcastle (Australia) undertook a survey in 1999 of Australian women - in the name of comparison, they published the results alongside a similar survey's results done in the 1920s.
Before popping the new information in here, I present the other info from the previous message:
Who | Bust | Waist | Hips | Height |
---|---|---|---|---|
Venus de Milo | 34" | 31.2" | 40.8" | 5'4" |
1925 Survey of American Beauty Queens | 34" | 26" | 35" | 5'4" |
1978 Sears Roebuck design changes (USA size 10) | 34.5" | 26" | 36.5" | Not Available |
1978 Berlei (UK) Survey | 35.9" | 27.8" | 38.1" | 5'3" |
New survey results with 1920s comparison (Australia):
Who | Bust | Waist | Hips | Height | Weight |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Twenties Woman | 34.3" | 29" | 38.6" | 5'4" | 116lb |
University of Newcastle, Australia, survey, 1999 | 36.8" | 30.1" | 40" | 5'5" | 125lb |
The newer survey information was in metric measurements, and I have taken the liberty of converting them to imperial measurements.
Weight was not mentioned in the information from the earlier surveys, but I guess it is lucky they did not weigh the Venus de Milo.
